High transverse magnetic field and zero field muon spin rotation and relaxation measurements have been carried out in a lightly oxygen-doped high-T_c parent compound La₂CuO₄ in a temperature range from 2 K to 300 K. As in the stoichiometric compound, muon spin rotation spectra reveal, along with the antiferromagnetic local field, the presence of an additional source of magnetic field at the muon. The results indicate that this second magnetic order is driven by the antiferromagnetism at low temperature but the two magnetic orders decouple at higher temperature. Optical excitation of stripe-ordered La_2–xBa_xCuO₄ has been shown to transiently enhance superconducting tunneling between the CuO₂ planes. This effect was revealed by a blueshift, or by the appearance of a Josephson plasma resonance in the terahertz-frequency optical properties. Here, we show that this photoinduced state can be strengthened by the application of high external magnetic fields oriented along the c axis. For a 7 T field, we observe up to a tenfold enhancement in the transient interlayer phase correlation length, accompanied by a twofold increase in the relaxation time of the photoinduced state. ${}^{139}{La}$ and ${}^{63}{Cu}$ NMR investigation of charge order in ${La}_{2} {CuO}_{4 + y}$ ( $T_{c} = 42$ K)

Here, we report ¹³⁹La and ⁶³Cu NMR investigation of the successive charge order, spin order, and superconducting transitions in superoxygenated La₂CuO_4+y single crystal with stage-4 excess oxygen order at T_stage≃290 K. We show that the stage-4 order induces tilting of CuO₆ octahedra below T_stage, which in turn causes ¹³⁹La NMR line broadening. The structural distortion continues to develop far below Tstage, and completes at T_charge≃60 K, where charge order sets in. This sequence is reminiscent of the the charge-order transition in Nd codoped La_1.88Sr_0.12CuO₄ that sets in once the low-temperature tetragonal phase is established. The correlations between stripe order, superconductivity, and crystal structure in La 2 - x Ba x CuO 4 single crystals have been studied by means of x-ray and neutron diffraction as well as static magnetization measurements. The derived phase diagram shows that charge stripe order (CO) coexists with bulk superconductivity in a broad range of doping around x = 1 / 8 , although the CO order parameter and correlation length fall off quickly for x ≠ 1 / 8 .
