The anti-de Sitter space/conformal field theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence may offer new and useful insights into the nonperturbative regime of strongly coupled gauge theories such as quantum chromodynamics (QCD). Recently, a modified soft-wall AdS/QCD model incorporated independent sources for explicit and spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking and linear confinement. Prediction for the mass spectra of resonance mesons in the soft-wall AdS/QCD model with a modified 5D metric

A soft-wall anti-de Sitter/QCD model with a modified five-dimensional metric at the infrared region is constructed to obtain a nontrivial dilaton solution, which incorporates the chiral symmetry breaking and linear confinement. By taking the pion mass and decay constant as two input mass scales, the resulting predictions for the resonance states of pseudoscalar, scalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons agree remarkably with the experimentally confirmed resonance states. The effects of the quartic interaction term are investigated by taking an appropriate sign and magnitude for maintaining the stability of the bulk scalar potential. Quark number susceptibility and QCD phase transition in the predictive soft-wall AdS/QCD model with finite temperature

Based on the infrared improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model which can lead to a consistent prediction for the mass spectra of light resonance mesons, we extend it to the finite temperature system and carry out the calculation for the quark number susceptibility with finite quark mass. As a consequence, we show that the quark number susceptibility grows rapidly with a continuous blowup in a narrow temperature interval as the temperature increases, and there is a peak when the temperature is around T{approx_equal}160{approx}190 MeV depending slightly on the models. The resulting critical temperature is about 170 MeV, which agrees remarkably with themore » lattice QCD calculation.« less

Chiral Symmetry Breaking In The AdS/QCD Soft-Wall Model

We show how to incorporate chiral symmetry breaking in the soft-wall version of the AdS/QCD model by using a modified dilaton profile and a quartic term in the bulk scalar potential. This allows one to separate the dependence on spontaneous and explicit chiral symmetry breaking. Moreover our 5D model automatically incorporates linear trajectories and non chiral-symmetry restoration for highly excited radial states. We compare our resulting mass spectra in the scalar, vector and axial-vector sectors with the respective QCD resonances.
