Magnetization plateaus of dipolar spin ice on kagome lattice

Unlike spin ice on pyrochlore lattice, the spin ice structure on kagome lattice retains net magnetic charge, indicating non-negligible dipolar interaction in modulating the spin ice states. While it is predicted that the dipolar spin ice on kagome lattice exhibits a ground state with magnetic charge order and √3 × √3 spin order, our work focuses on the magnetization plateau of this system. By employing the Wang-Landau algorithm, it is revealed that the lattice exhibits the fantastic three-step magnetization in response to magnetic field h along the [10] and [01] directions, respectively. Quantum Versus Classical Spin Fragmentation in Dipolar Kagome Ice ${Ho}_{3} {Mg}_{2} {Sb}_{3} O_{14}$

A promising route to realize entangled magnetic states combines geometrical frustration with quantum-tunneling effects. Spin-ice materials are canonical examples of frustration, and Ising spins in a transverse magnetic field are the simplest many-body model of quantum tunneling. Here, we show that the tripod-kagome lattice material Ho3Mg2Sb3O14 unites an icelike magnetic degeneracy with quantum-tunneling terms generated by an intrinsic splitting of the Ho3+ ground-state doublet, which is further coupled to a nuclear spin bath. Long-Range Order at Low Temperatures in Dipolar Spin Ice

It has recently been suggested that long-range magnetic dipolar interactions are responsible for spin ice behavior in the Ising pyrochlore magnets Dy{sub 2}Ti {sub 2}O{sub 7} and Ho{sub 2}Ti {sub 2}O{sub 7} . We report here numerical results on the low temperature properties of the dipolar spin ice model, obtained via a new loop algorithm which greatly improves the dynamics at low temperature. We recover the previously reported missing entropy in this model, and find a first order transition to a long-range ordered phase with zero total magnetization at very low temperature.
