Thermal color superconducting phase transitions in three-flavor quark matter at high baryon density are investigated in the Ginzburg-Landau (GL) approach. We constructed the GL potential near the boundary with a normal phase by taking into account nonzero quark masses, electric charge neutrality, and color charge neutrality. We found that the density of states averaged over paired quarks plays a crucial role in determining the phases near the boundary. The structure of high density nuclear matter is studied in the framework of a new approach, a mean-field description of non-overlapping neutron and proton bags with soft surfaces bound by the self-consistent exchange of the {sigma}, {omega} and {rho} meson fields. General effective action for high-density quark matter

We derive a general effective action for quark matter at nonzero temperature and/or nonzero density. For this purpose, we distinguish irrelevant from relevant quark modes, as well as hard from soft gluon modes by introducing two separate cutoffs in momentum space, one for quarks, {lambda}{sub q}, and one for gluons, {lambda}{sub g}. We exactly integrate out irrelevant quark modes and hard gluon modes in the functional integral representation of the QCD partition function.
