Competing magnetic fluctuations in iron pnictide superconductors: Role of ferromagnetic spin correlations revealed by NMR

In the iron pnictide superconductors, theoretical calculations have consistently shown enhancements of the static magnetic susceptibility at both the stripe-type antiferromagnetic and in-plane ferromagnetic (FM) wave vectors. However, the possible existence of FM fluctuations has not yet been examined from a microscopic point of view. Here, using ⁷⁵As NMR data, we provide clear evidence for the existence of FM spin correlations in both the hole- and electron-doped BaFe₂As₂ families of iron-pnictide superconductors. Competing pairing interactions responsible for the large upper critical field in a stoichiometric iron-based superconductor CaKFe4As4

The upper critical field of multiband superconductors is an important quantity that can reveal details about the nature of the superconducting pairing. Here in this paper we experimentally map out the complete upper-critical-field phase diagram of a stoichiometric superconductor, CaKFe₄ As₄, up to 90 T for different orientations of the magnetic field and at temperatures down to 4.2 K . The upper critical fields are extremely large, reaching values close to ~ 3T_c at the lowest temperature, and the anisotropy decreases dramatically with temperature, leading to essentially isotropic superconductivity at 4.2 K . Competing instabilities, orbital ordering, and splitting of band degeneracies from a parquet renormalization group analysis of a four-pocket model for iron-based superconductors: Application to FeSe

Here, we report the results of a parquet renormalization group (RG) study of competing instabilities in the full 2D four-pocket, three-orbital low-energy model for iron-based superconductors. We derive and analyze the RG flow of the couplings, which describes all symmetry-allowed interactions between low-energy fermions. Despite that the number of the couplings is large, we argue that there are only two stable fixed trajectories of the RG flow and one weakly unstable fixed trajectory with a single unstable direction. Synthesis, structure and magnetic properties of La{sub 3}Co{sub 2}SbO{sub 9}: A double perovskite with competing antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic interactions

The synthesis, structural characterization, and magnetic properties of La{sub 3}Co{sub 2}SbO{sub 9} double perovskite are reported. The crystal structure has been refined by X-ray and neutron powder diffraction data in the monoclinic space group P2{sub 1}/n. Co{sup 2+} and Sb{sup 5+} have the maximum order allowed for the La{sub 3}Co{sub 2}SbO{sub 9} stoichiometry. Rietveld refinements of powder neutron diffraction data show that at room temperature the cell parameters are a=5.6274(2) A, b=5.6842(2) A, c=7.9748(2) A and {beta}=89.999(3) Degree-Sign . From Ru- and Cu-NMR studies, we present evidence for coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in a cuprate superconductor RuSr{sub 2}YCu {sub 2}O{sub 8} (RuY1212). The observation of a large enhancement of a radio-frequency field for the Ru-NMR signal at zero field reveals the existence of a ferromagnetic (FM) component in the ordered RuO{sub 2} plane below a Curie temperature of T{sub M}=150 K .
