Mn-doped InAs self-organized diluted magnetic quantum-dot layers with Curie temperatures above 300 K

The magnetic and structural properties of InAs:Mn self-organized diluted magnetic quantum dots grown by low-temperature ({approx}270 deg. C), solid-source molecular-beam epitaxy using a very low InAs growth rate (<0.1 ML/s) are investigated. A Curie temperature (T{sub C}) of {approx}350 K is measured in a sample grown with a Mn/In flux ratio of 0.15. Electron energy-loss spectroscopy confirms that most of the Mn remains within the InAs quantum dots. We propose as a possible explanation for this high T{sub C} the effects of magnetic and structural disorder introduced by a random incorporation and inhomogeneous distribution of Mn atoms amongst the InAsmore » quantum dots.« less

Controlled synthesis of Eu{sup 2+} and Eu{sup 3+} doped ZnS quantum dots and their photovoltaic and magnetic properties

Eu-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) have been synthesized by wet-chemical method and found to form in zinc blende (cubic) structure. Both Eu{sup 2+} and Eu{sup 3+} doped ZnS can be controllably synthesized. The Eu{sup 2+} doped ZnS QDs show broad photoluminescence emission peak around 512 nm, which is from the Eu{sup 2+} intra-ion transition of 4f{sup 6}d{sup 1} – 4f{sup 7}, while the Eu{sup 3+} doped samples exhibit narrow emission lines characteristic of transitions between the 4f levels. Magnetic Effect of Dopants on Bright and Dark Excitons in Strongly Confined Mn-Doped CsPbI₃ Quantum Dots

We investigated the magnetic effect of Mn²⁺ ions on an exciton of Mn-doped CsPbI₃ quantum dots (QDs), where we looked for the signatures of an exciton magnetic polaron known to produce a large effective magnetic field in Mn-doped CdSe QDs. In contrast to Mn-doped CdSe QDs that can produce ~100 T of magnetic field upon photoexcitation, manifested as a large change in the energy and relaxation dynamics of a bright exciton, Mn-doped CsPbI₃ QDs exhibited little influence of a magnetic dopant on the behavior of a bright exciton.
