Abstract
Two years after completion of the new Munich Franz-Josef-Strauss Airport building Europe`s modernest airport hotel opened its gates of heaven on April 1, 1994 after only 18 months of construction. The 343-rooms/46-suites Kempinski-style near-terminal grand hotel on the premises of Munich airport adds another international meeting point attraction to this international, cosmopolitan airport in the south of Germany. In a most remarkable way Helmut Jahn, the Chicago architect who built the famous 256 m Frankfurt Messeturm succeeded in integrating his light-flooded steel-glass-concrete work of art harmoniously into the overall airport structure and in emphasizing trend-setting hotel features. While part one of SHT 9/95 described the general design of the hotel, part 2 gives details about the water supply and waste water disposal systems. (orig.)
