Measurement of the {ital {sigma}}thinsp({ital W}+ {ge}1 Jet)thinsp/{ital {sigma}}thinsp({ital W}) Cross Section Ratio from {ovr {ital p}}{ital p} Collisions at {radical} ({ital s}) =1.8 TeV

The ratio of the W+{ge}1 jet cross section to the inclusive W cross section is measured using W{sup {plus_minus}}{r_arrow}e{sup {plus_minus}}{nu} events from {ovr p}p collisions at {radical} (s) =1.8 TeV . The data are from 108 pb{sup {minus}1} of integrated luminosity collected with the Collider Detector at Fermilab. Measurements of the cross section ratio for jet transverse energy thresholds (E{sup min}{sub T}) ranging from 15 to 95thinspthinspGeV are compared to theoretical predictions using next-to-leading-order QCD calculations. Data and theory agree well for E{sup min}{sub T}{gt}25 GeV , where the predictions lie within 1 standard deviation of the measured values. {copyright} {ital 1998} {ital The American Physical Society }
