The fatigue strength of pressure vessels are being studied by the following programs: cyclic pressure tests of large pressure vessels, effect of flaws and weld defects on the plastic fatigue strength of A302B pressure vessel steel, and the effect of plastic fatigue on the notch ductility of mild steel plate. Progress is reported on stress analysis, out-of-roundness stresses, ultrasonic inspection, pressure cycling, weld defects, and notch ductility. (N.W.R.)
