Abstract

The Maricopa Regional Household Travel Survey was conducted by NuStats from February through December 2001 under the auspices of the Maricopa Association of Governments. The purpose of the survey was to obtain information related to travel behavior. The study objective was to produce data that could be used to develop and calibrate travel demand models for use in travel forecasting and air quality planning. A total of 5,478 households were recruited to participate in the study, and travel information was gathered from all household members regardless of age in Maricopa County and a small portion of Pinal County. Of these, 4,018 households (73%) completed travel diaries, representing 10,030 people, 6,589 vehicles, and 78,511 places visited during the 48-hour travel period.

1988/1989 Maricopa Household Travel Study

This study was commissioned by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Transportation and Planning Office. The primary objectives of this study were to update the trip generation rates used in the MAG travel demand forecasting process and to provide data to validate the MAG trip distribution model. Demographic, socioeconomic, and travel data was collected for 2,992 households residing within the MAG Urban Planning Area. Respondents were asked to record their travel and activities for a 24-hour period. A total of 26,733 trips were recorded by 6,463 people.
2001 KIPDA Regional Household Travel Survey

The Kentuckiana Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA) conducted this four-month study from October 2000 through January 2001 to update regional travel demand models. The universe for the survey consisted of households in the five-county Louisville transportation planning study area, including Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana and Bullitt, Jefferson, and Oldham counties in Kentucky. Demographic variables and travel behavior characteristics were collected for 4,433 households in a 24-hour period. The 2005 Tahoe Regional Household Travel Survey is a comprehensive survey of the travel patterns of households in the Tahoe Basin region of California and Nevada. The survey was conducted for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency over a four-month period, from June through September 2005. This collection contains two sets of travel data: 1) a survey of 1,220 permanent households within the Tahoe Basin region and 2) a subset survey of 125 seasonal households within the same area. 2002-2015 Texas Regional Travel Surveys

From 2002-2015, multiple household travel surveys were conducted across Texas in Abilene, Austin, Bryan-College Station, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Houston/Galveston, Laredo, Midland/Odessa, Rio Grande Valley, San Angelo, San Antonio, Texarkana, Tyler/Longview, and Wichita Falls. In coordination with the Texas Transportation Institute, the Texas Department of Transportation conducted the surveys. The travel surveys incorporated a global positioning system technology-based travel diary component.
