TRACER-Tethersonde, a sub-campaign of TRACER, took place during the TRACER June-September 2022 intensive operating period (IOP) at the S3 Ancillary site (29.33°N, 95.74°W) near Guy, TX. The Tethered Balloon System (TBS) operated during the first two weeks of each month during the TRACER IOP, making multiple (~4) up and down vertical profiles each day that could reach as high as ~1 km. TRACER-Tethersonde included an En-Sci electrochemical cell (ECC) ozonesonde on the TBS. The ozonesonde was connected to an iMet-4RSB radiosonde, and the overall data collected included ozone, relative humidity, temperature, and altitude.

For 1958 through 1987, this data base presents total ozone variations and layer mean ozone variations expressed as percent deviations from the 1958 to 1977 mean. The total ozone variations were derived from mean monthly ozone values published in Ozone Data for the World by the Atmospheric Environment Service in cooperation with the World Meteorological Organization. The layer mean ozone variations are derived from ozonesonde and Umkehr observations. The data records include year, seasonal and annual total ozone variations, and seasonal and annual layer mean ozone variations. SCILLA ozone (O3) airborne data

Ozone mixing ratios in ppb are measured using a Teledyne API Model T400U. The analyzer uses UV absorption at 254 nm to determine O3 concentration. Sampled air was pulled from above the Naval Postgraduate School’s (NPS) Twin Otter aircraft through a rear-facing, ¼” OD PFA Teflon tube. The sample stream was split between several other gas analyzers (CO, NOx, and H2O) and an oxidation flow reactor. The data were recorded at 0.1 Hz.
