Abstract

This data package contains meteorological and surface data at the Barro Colorado Island (BCI) and Bosque Protector San Lorenzo (Fort Sherman) NGEE Tropics sites in Panama. Data has been converted into formats usable by the land-models driving the Functionally-Assembled Terrestrial Ecosystem Simulator (FATES). Surface datasets are model release dependent and may have to be re-processed for later versions of the model. Current surface datasets based off of "<>_16pfts_Irrig_CMIP6_simyr2000_c170824.nc" See the README_ngeet_lm_driver text file in the attached zip file for detailed descriptions of the included data files.

Wetlands emit the most biogenic methane (CH4) and present the greatest uncertainty in the global CH4 budget. Modeling these emissions is challenging due to the temporal and spatial variability in wetland structure and CH4 flux rates, along with complex interactions among hydrological, ecological, meteorological, and microbial processes that govern CH4 dynamics. This Modeling Archive is in support of an NGEE Arctic discussion paper available at doi:10.5194/gmd-9-927-2016. The purpose is to document the simulations to allow verification, reproducibility, and follow-up studies. This dataset contains shell scripts to create the CLM-PFLOTRAN cases, specific input files for PFLOTRAN and CLM, outputs, and python scripts to make the figures using the outputs in the publication. Through these results, we demonstrate that CLM-PFLOTRAN can approximately reproduce CLM results in selected cases for the Arctic, temperate and tropic sites. This data package contains leaf chemistry and photosynthetic traits data from trees within the NGEE Tropics Parque Natural Metropolitano (PA-PNM) and Bosque Protector San Lorenzo (PA-SLZ) sites in Panama. Photosynthetic parameters including maximum photosynthesis, Vcmax, Jmax, and TPU, were calculated from A/Ci curves. Foliar nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations and leaf mass per unit leaf area of the leaves also were determined.
