Abstract

Measurements of full-spectrum (i.e. 350-2500nm) canopy spectral reflectance along the NGEE-Arctic DTLB_2 in Barrow, Alaska. Spectra were collected using the HR-2014i instrument mounted on a tripod together with a Spectralon white plate to calibrate each measurement under variable illumination conditions during the measurement campaign. Full-spectrum (350–2500 nm) canopy spectral reflectance measured in July 2015, 2016 and 2017 along the NGEE-Arctic tram located on the Barrow Environmental Observatory (BEO), Barrow, Alaska. Measurements were made using a SVC HR1024i spectroradiometer mounted on a manually operated instrument cart. Spectra were collected at 137 stop points at 0.5 m intervals along the tram transect, with each measurement calibrated to variable illumination conditions using a Spectralon white plate. Manual measurements of soil moisture, temperature, and thaw depth were collected in the footprint of the NGEE Arctic Tram starting 2014-07-20 and continuing through 2015-07-16. There were 10 periodic sampling events. These measurements were collected under the Tram observational platform. Probes were inserted into ground beneath the track closest to Tram sensors measurement locations at each Tram measurement position (Position # marked on the tracks). A MiniTrase Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) instrument was used to measure volumetric water content (VWC; units = m3/m3). Soil temperature was measured with a thermocouple probe.
