Site Description - The Valles Caldera Mixed Conifer site is located in the 1200 km2 Jemez River basin in north-central New Mexico. This is the AmeriFlux version of the carbon flux data for the site US-Vcp Valles Caldera Ponderosa Pine. Site Description - The Valles Caldera Ponderosa Pine site is located in the 1200km2 Jemez River basin of the Jemez Mountains in north-central New Mexico at the southern margin of the Rocky Mountain ecoregion. The Ponderosa Pine forest is the warmest and lowest (below 2700m) zone of the forests in the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Its vegetation is composed of a Ponderosa Pine (Pinus Ponderosa) overstory and a Gambel Oak (Quercus gambelii) understory.

Stratigraphy, structure, hydrothermal alteration and ore mineralization encountered in CSDP (Continental Scientific Drilling Program) corehole VC-2A, Sulphur Springs Area, Valles Caldera, New Mexico: A detailed overview

The pyroclastic and volcaniclastic rocks penetrated by the corehole are readily recognizable from previous studies of the Valles calderas surface and subsurface, and include most major members of the 3.6-<1.12 Ma intracaldera volcanic sequence. Continuous core from VC-2A, however, has revealed critical textural and structural features of these rocks not apparent from earlier investigations based on small-diameter drill cuttings; paragenetic relationships among hydrothermal phases have been similarly clarified. Our work to date on the VC-2A core has led to the major preliminary conclusions. 35 refs., 3 figs.
