Title: Materials Data on SnBr4 by Materials Project

Abstract

SnBr4 is Silicon tetrafluoride-like structured and crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1/c space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of four tin(iv) bromide molecules. Sn4+ is bonded in a tetrahedral geometry to four Br1- atoms. All Sn–Br bond lengths are 2.48 Å. There are four inequivalent Br1- sites. In the first Br1- site, Br1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Sn4+ atom. In the second Br1- site, Br1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Sn4+ atom. In the third Br1- site, Br1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Sn4+ atom. In the fourth Br1- site, Br1- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Sn4+ atom.
