Precise Measurement of the Weak Mixing Angle from Leptonic Polarization Asymmetries at the SLD Experiment

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/9983· OSTI ID:9983
This paper presents measurements of the leptonic asymmetries in Z{sup 0} decays measured with the SLD detector at the SLAC Linear Collider. A data sample of approximately 500,000 Z{sup 0} boson decays has been used. These measurements lead to a precise determination of the effective weak mixing angle sin{sup 2} {theta}{sub w}{sup eff}. The combined preliminary result is sin{sup 2} {theta}{sub w}{sup eff} = 0.23110 {+-} 0.00029.
