Secular trend and seasonal variability of the column abundance of N{sub 2}O above the Jungfraujoch station determined from IR solar spectra

This paper describes the results of vertical column abundance experiments performed above the International Scientific Station of the Jungfraujoch, Switzerland. Infrared solar spectra recorded in 1950 to 1951 and from 1984 to 1992 have been analyzed to determine in situ vertical column abundances of nitrous oxide. Results of these analyses indicate that low pre-industrial nitrous oxide levels in the atmosphere increased only slightly prior to 1951, and that most of the increase in abundance has occurred thereafter. 53 refs., 9 figs., 2 tabs.
