Title: Power system

Abstract

A power system includes a prime mover, a transmission, and a fluid coupler having a selectively engageable lockup clutch. The fluid coupler may be drivingly connected between the prime mover and the transmission. Additionally, the power system may include a motor/generator drivingly connected to at least one of the prime mover and the transmission. The power-system may also include power-system controls configured to execute a control method. The control method may include selecting one of a plurality of modes of operation of the power system. Additionally, the control method may include controlling the operating state of the lockup clutch dependent upon the mode of operation selected. The control method may also include controlling the operating state of the motor/generator dependent upon the mode of operation selected.

  • This patent describes a system for controlling the operation of a power delivery system including an engine of an engine-driven vehicle and a continuously variable ratio transmission coupled to the engine for delivering power from the engine to an output shaft. The engine has fuel delivery means for delivering a variable quantity of fuel thereto. The power delivery system is controlled by command means for commanding a desired power delivery system performance.   • A gas turbine power plant is provided with an industrial gas turbine which drives a rotating brushless exciter generator coupled to a power system through a breaker. One or more of the turbine-generator plants are operated by a hybrid digital computer control system during sequenced startup, synchronizing, load, and shutdown operations.   • This patent describes an apparatus for controlling a steering power in a power steering system which is used in an automobile. The apparatus consists of: a main pump which supplies a first hydraulic coil to the power steering system to operate the same; an oil pressure reaction chamber for controlling the steering power; a subpump of a reduced size smaller than that of the main pump for supplying a second hydraulic oil to the oil pressure reaction chamber to operate the same; a first oil path interconnecting the subpump and oil pressure reaction chamber to each other for flowing themore » second hydraulic oil through the first oil path; an oil tank; a second oil path branched from the first oil path and connected to the oil tank; a first control valve means disposed in the second oil path for raising the hydraulic pressure of the oil pressure reaction chamber in response to an increase in the running speed of the automobile so as to control the oil pressure reaction chamber to increase the steering power; and a second control valve means connected in parallel relationship with the first control valve means for changing the steering power in response to the hydraulic pressure of the first hydraulic oil supplied from the main pump.« less
