Measurement of B_c properties at CDF

Conference ·
OSTI ID:966468
The B{sub c}{sup +} meson is composed of two heavy quarks of distinct flavor. Measurements of its lifetime and production properties have been made based on semileptonic B{sub c}{sup +} {yields} J/{psi} + l{sup +} + X decays using data collected with the CDF II detector corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb{sup -1}. The B{sub c}{sup +} average lifetime c{sup {tau}} is measured to be 142.5{sub -14.8}{sup +15.8}(stat){+-}5.5(syst) {micro}m. The measurements of the ratio of the production cross section times branching ratio of B{sub c}{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}{mu}{sup +}{nu} relative to B{sup +} {yields} J/{psi}K{sup +} were done for two p{sub T} (B) thresholds: for p{sub T}(B) > 4 GeV/c as 0.295 {+-} 0.040 (stat.){sub -0.026}{sup +0.033}(syst.) {+-} 0.036 (p{sub T} spectrum) and for p{sub T}(B) > 6 GeV/c as 0.227 {+-} 0.033(stat.){sub -0.017}{sup +0.024}(syst.) {+-} 0.014 (p{sub T} spectrum).
