More and more ceramic manufacturers are being asked by their customers to finish machine ceramic parts. A common requirement is to produce flat parallel surfaces to close dimensions for thickness, flatness, parallelism, and to very fine polished finishes. This paper will describe a relatively new process called FINE GRINDING which is cool, precise, fast cutting and gentle using bonded abrasive diamond pellet wheels to grind both sides of a batch of workpieces all at the same time. In addition, the technology to precision polish the fine ground surface will be presented.
