SiC fiber-reinforced AlN composites were fabricated by hot-pressing at 1650{degrees}C and 17.6 MPa in vacuum. The microstructure and chemistry of matrix, fiber, matrix/fiber interface in as-fabricated and crept composites were characterized using analytical transmission electron microscopy, in order to find out the relationship between the microstructural features and the mechanical properties measured at room- and high-temperatures and to understand the reinforcing effects of the SiC fiber in the matrix at room- and high-temperatures. Room-temperature mechanical properties and high-temperature creep properties of the composites were investigated by four-point bending tests.
