Small-Scale Safety and Thermal Characterization of 3,3'-diamino-4,4'-azoxyfurazan (DAAF)
Small-scale safety testing has been completed on 3,3{prime}-diamino 4,4{prime}-azoxyfurazan (DAAF). The relative sensitivity of DAAF against various stimuli was evaluated. DAAF shows no observable sensitivity to friction or static spark. It has impact sensitivity approaching that of TATB. Using the One Dimensional Time to Explosion (ODTX) apparatus to measure thermal response, DAAF shows similar sensitivity to TNT and HMX. DSC and the CRT were also used to evaluate the thermal stability of DAAF under various conditions.
