Influence of hole filling by Ti on the superconductivity of YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}}

The structural and superconducting properties of YBa{sub 2}(Cu{sub 1{minus}x}Ti{sub x}){sub 3}O{sub z} samples are investigated using X-ray diffraction, ac susceptibility, and oxygen content measurements. The effect of increasing Ti concentration in YBa{sub 2}(Cu{sub 1{minus}x}Ti{sub x}){sub 3}O{sub z} lowers the oxygen content and decreases T{sub c}, which is attributed to the hole filling by Ti.
