The PNNL FTIR-jet spectrometer system incorporates a continuous expansion, 12 cm x 50 micron expansion source pumped by a high throughput (6000 liter/sec) system of Roots blowers. The interaction region between the supersonic expansion and infrared radiation has been multi passed to increase the signal to noise. Rotational cooling temperatures of 10-15 K are routinely achieved. The FTIR-jet spectrometer has extensive spectral coverage form 4000 to 400 cm-1. To demonstrate the system's performance, a number of test cases including fluorocarbons, nitrous oxide monomer, nitrous oxide dimer, carbon dioxide monomer, carbon dioxide dimer, and other weakly bonded molecules will be presented.
