As electric utilities install more underground cable to meet their growing transmission and distribution needs, the value of existing conduit and manhole systems rises dramatically. Until recently, little could be done to remove Jammed Cable from conduit, since pulling harder on the cable generally causes more problems. Currently a technique is available which uses vibration and lubrication injection with controlled hydraulic pulling at the duct outlet to remove these jammed cables. Then, if required, the conduit can be restored by using conventional underground conduit clearing equipment.
