Lorentz force independent out-of-plane resistive dissipation in single crystalline La{sub 1.86}Sr{sub 0.14}CuO{sub 4}.

Journal Article · · Solid State Commun.
The out-of-plane resistivity as a function of temperature, magnetic field and its orientation is measured directly by means of transport currents along the c-axis for single crystalline La{sub 1.86}Sr{sub 0.14}CuO{sub 4}. The results emphasize that the dissipation is not dominated by the Lorentz force driven vortex motion. Previously considered Lorentz force free dissipation models are reexamined. Our analysis shows that none of them can give a reasonable interpretation of the experimental findings.
