The crystal structures of superconducting HgBa{sub 2}CuO{sub 4+{delta}} and HgBa{sub 2}CaCu{sub 2}O{sub 6+{delta}} have been investigated with a pressure up to 0.6 GPa and HgBa{sub 2}Ca{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 8+{delta}} to 9.2 GPa by neutron powder diffraction. The compressibility along the c-axis is nearly the same for the three compounds and up to two times larger than the compressibility along the a-axis. The one-layer compound, HgBa{sub 2}CuO{sub 4+{delta}}, shows the largest a-axis compressibility, while HgBa{sub 2}Ca{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 4+{delta}} shows the smallest compressibility. The bond compressibilities of HgBa{sub 2}Ca{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 4+{delta}} and HgBa{sub 2}CaCu{sub 2}O{sub 6+{delta}} are significantly different from HgBa{sub 2}Ca{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 8+{delta}} bond compressibilities. In the one- and two-layer compounds the largest bond compressibility was the Cu-O{sub 2} (apical) bond distance, while for the three-layer compound it was the Hg-O{sub 2} bond distance.
