We report here for the first time the availability of an {open_quotes}official{close_quotes} set of ENDF/B-VI neutron data for MCNP. The ENDF/B-VI neutron data have been available for about four years. Release 2 came out in June 1993; however, it was not available to MCNP until MCNP4A was released October 1, 1993. Three new ENDF/B-VI scattering laws and their sampling schemes were added to MCNP4A: the Kalbach-87 formalism (ENDF/B-VI file 6 LAW=l, LANG=2), correlated angle-energy scattering (ENDF/B-VI file 6 LAW=7), and phase-space law (ENDF/B-VI file 6 LAW=6). In addition, new algorithms were developed for next-event estimators so that collisions using these new laws now contribute to point and ring detectors as well as the DXTRAN variance reduction method. The NJOY ACER module was also changed by R. MacFarlane of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) nuclear theory and applications group to provide data in these new formats. The NJOY code version 91.91 with full ENDF/B-VI capability was released to the Radiation Shielding Information Center (RSIC) in August 1993.
