This study investigates the optimum depressurization time for a boiling water reactor (BWR)-6 reactor during a short-term station blackout severe accident. The study was performed with the MELCOR severe accident code, version 1.8.2 NM. The plant analyzed is the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, a BWR-6 with a power of 3833 MW(thermal) and a Mark-III containment. These calculations assume that the fuel in the core is at the end of life (high burnup).
