Quality assurance program for the determination of iodine in biological materials by neutron activation

Journal Article · · Transactions of the American Nuclear Society
OSTI ID:88961
The determination of iodine in a number of biological materials using various types of neutron activation analysis (NAA) has become a routine procedure in our laboratory. Instrumental NAA (INAA), epithermal INAA (EINAA), preconcentration NAA (PNAA), and radiochemical NAA (RNAA) methods have been developed using conventional gamma-ray spectrometry for measuring parts-per-million to sub-parts-per-billion levels of iodine. A rigorous quality assurance program has been developed and is followed for the reliable determination of very low levels of iodine with high precision and accuracy.
