Physics program and instrumentation at CEBAF

The physics motivation and the experimental instrumentation of the Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator (CEBAF) are discussed. The facility is devoted to the investigation of the electromagnetic structure of mesons, nucleons, and nuclei using high duty-cycle electron and photon beams in the energy range up to 4 GeV.
