Over 350 papers and presentations provided at the conference give the latest and most up-to-date information on wind energy. Over 40 organizations worldwide helped sponsor the event, with the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) and the European Wind Energy Association leading the way. The sessions were arranged in policy, technical, and business tracks, plus panel discussions. Examples of sessions include: Improvements in blade and low wind speed technology; Financing in developing countries and emerging markets; Forecasting challenges and solutions; Grid access and transmission; Wind energy for farms, homes, and small businesses; Hybrid system technology needs; Experience with market support mechanisms; Future applications (hydrogen, storage, desalination, etc.); Siting, permitting and NIMBY issues; Wind turbine loading: conditions, predictions and measurements; Offshore policy and experience; and Transmission and utilities: making it work.
