Determination of G(sub)e/G(sub)M in the Nuclear Medium via Recoil Polarization Measurements in the 16O (e,e'p) Reactions

The first (e,e'p) polarization transfer measurements on a heavy nucleun have been made at TJNAF. The reaction 16O(e,e'p-bar) was used to study the transfer of polarization to the recoil proton in quasi-elastic kinematics. The preliminary result for the ratio of longitudinal to transverse polarization is within about 10% of that expected from a standard calculation assuming no change in the nucleon form factor.
