Measurement of sin2beta with BABAR

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/826534· OSTI ID:826534

The authors present updated results on time-dependent CP-violating asymmetries in neutral B decays to several CP eigenstates containing charmonium. In the Standard Model, the amplitude of these asymmetries is proportional to sin 2{beta}. They measure sin2{beta} = 0.741 {+-} 0.067 (stat) {+-} 0.034 (syst) from a data sample of about 88 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. The authors have also measured CP-violating asymmetries in open charm, and penguin modes sensitive to sin2{beta}, which provide important consistency tests of the Standard Model.
