DC resistivity imaging using a steel cased well

The sensitivity analysis showed that the effects of the casing resulted in a reduction of the radial extent and vertical elongation of the sensitivity pattern in the medium. The sensitivities from the pole-pole and pole-dipole arrays showed that they had nor or limited regional coverage. The dipole-dipole arrays was the best configuration to resolve the resistivity of the elements from measurements where the casing was used. It was the most flexible array and could produce different regional responds by altering the lengths and locations of the dipoles. The inversion of synthetic data indicated that images of the medium can be produced. The data were calculated from a model composing of a highly conductive cylinder embedded in a 3-layer medium. The layer could be imaged to about 5--9m away from the casing for a single hole survey while the crosshole configuration was able to reconstruct the layer accurately.
