Electroweak properties of light mesons in the relativistic model of constituent quarks

Journal Article · · Phys. At. Nuclei
OSTI ID:802134
Leptonic-decay constants and electromagnetic form factors are calculated for the pion and kaon. The calculation relies on the formalism of relativistic Hamiltonian dynamics and employs various model wave functions. The parameters of the wave functions are fitted to mean-square charge radii of the mesons under study. The internal structure of quarks is taken into account by introducing the electromagnetic form factors and anomalous magnetic moments of the quarks. It is found that, in the region of momentum transfers characteristic of CEBAF experiments, the meson electromagnetic form factors are weakly sensitive to the choice of wave function and are strongly dependent on the anomalous magnetic moments of the quarks.
