In Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Wheelabrator Technologies owns a venture that combines the world`s most efficient waste-to-energy plant with a state-of-the-art materials recovery facility. The first year of operation at Wheelabrator Falls recycling and WTE facilities emphasizes that two or more material management technologies can be combined to provide successful municipal solid waste management. Considered by some to be competing technologies that shouldn`t be mixed, the private WTE and recycling facilities operated by Otter Recycling and Wheelabrator Technologies are effectively serving a large number of communities in southeastern Pennsylvania. A little more time will tell whether these and other communities use the combination of facilities in Morrisville to their better advantage.
