A gluon condensate and the three-dimensional ({bar {Psi}}{Psi}){sup 2} field theory

The phase structure of the three-dimensional four-fermion field theory in the presence of external chromomagnetic H and external chromoelectric E fields is investigated. The structure of these fields is essentially non-Abelian. It is shown that, for H {ne} 0, chiral symmetry, spontaneously broken at small E, is restored at the critical point E{sub c}. Expressions for E{sub c} and fermion masses are obtained as functions of external field strengths. 13 refs.
