ARCS-A High Resolution Chopper Spectrometer at the SNS

The ARCS spectrometer project has been funded for 4 months. Progress has been made on conceptual designs and on setting up systems needed by the project. The hardware effort has focused on concepts for main instrument components and the development of a work break-down structure (WBS). The software effort has focused on assembling a team for the development of computer software, developing a software roadmap, and the installation of a Beowulf computer cluster for software development work.
