A consideration of {l_brace}1{bar 2}1{r_brace}L1{sub 0} boundaries in their unrelaxed form shows that there are at least three {Sigma}2, six {Sigma}3 and three {Sigma}6 variants possible due to the tetragonal ordering of the L1{sub 0} lattice. Experimental observations of {gamma}-TiAl, obtained by HREM, show that two {gamma}-grains with a true-twin orientation relationship exhibit a rigid body shift between the {l_brace}111{r_brace} planes perpendicular to and either side of a {l_brace}1{bar 2}1{r_brace}{sub L1{sub 0}} interface, and that the interfacial structure is distinct from those previously observed in f.c.c. metals.
