Socioeconomic information has been gathered to support the establishment of a baseline for the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), and for the development of impact analyses in the EIS. This gathered information has centered on the proposed repository's primary region of influence, the three Nevada counties of Clark, Lincoln, and Nye, but some summary information for the state of Nevada is also included. Additionally, information has been obtained to establish a baseline and support analyses of potential impacts in other Nevada counties which might be impacted by the construction and/or operation of infrastructure associated with either the rail or heavy-haul transportation options. These additional counties are Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, and Lander. Also, at the request of the EIS Contractor, some additional information has been gathered and is included in this EBF. Information has been categorized as either Population and Housing, Economic and Labor Force, or Public Services. Public Services information has been divided into Education; Public Health; Public Safety; General Services information for Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, Lander, Lincoln, and Nye Counties; and Transportation, Utilities, and Recreation.
