As a result of the premature, permanent shutdown of San Onofre nuclear generating station unit 1 (SONGS 1), Southern California Edison (SCE) has implemented many decommissioning activities and has developed plans to address future decommissioning actions. While many successes have been achieved, such as obtaining the possession-only license (POL) and the permanently defueled technical specification (PDTS) in a timely manner, several unresolved issues and uncertainties have been identified.
