Recent accomplishments at the University of Missouri-Rolla Reactor Facility
- Univ. of Missouri, Rolla (United States)
There have been several recent accomplishments at the University of Missouri-Rolla reactor (UMRR) facility resulting in equipment upgrades, improved capabilities, and increased utilization. The most noteworthy are the nuclear instrumentation (NI) upgrade (in progress), the low-enrichment uranium (LEU) fuel conversion, and the increase in facility utilization resulting from an aggressive campaign to solicit new users. Support from the US Department of Energy (DOE) has made these accomplishments possible. The UMRR is a 200-kW natural-convection pool reactor fueled with LEU plate-type fuel. The facility is primarily used as a campuswide instructional/research tool and has been in operation since 1961.
