Geopressure revisited, 1983

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7369615
During the past several years considerable interest has centered on deep tertiary sediments called geopressured zones, in an area encompassing about 100,000 mi/sup 2/ along the Texas/Louisiana Coast. These sediments are characterized by high pressures, and exhibit moderately elevated temperatures. Research directed toward the evaluation of these deposits over the past several years has recently culminated in a series of test wells, the results of which can now be analyzed and applied to further understanding the usefulness of this resource. The Gulf Coast geopressured zones are described along with the reservoir characteristics and the test well program.
