Lakeview, Oregon, geothermal development case history

The development of the geothermal resources of the hot springs near Lakeview, Oregon is discussed. Lakeview is located near the north end of the Goose Lake Valley in south-central Oregon about 335 air miles from Portland. The geology and water chemistry of the area are described. The geothermal exploration history as recent exploration activities are discussed. A low-temperature binary power plant was installed in March, 1982. The operation and performance of the 40 kW plant are discussed. The project is being monitored by the Oregon Department of Energy.
