The zero-dimensional, or lumped parameter models of the Wairakei reservoir are presented and system identification techniques are used to find the best analytical expression for the average pressure response. It is shown that the corresponding conceptual model may be interpreted as a slow-drainage model in which portions of the reservoir where two-phase conditions develop serve mainly as a source of liquid for the underlying single-phase region from which most of the production is obtained.
