Exhaust gas recirculation for three-valve engine

An exhaust gas recirculation system is described for an internal combustion spark ignition piston engine having a main combustion chamber and an auxiliary combustion chamber connected by a restricted torch nozzle. A lean mixture is supplied to the main combustion chamber, and a rich mixture is supplied to the auxiliary combustion chamber. A conduit conducts a portion of the exhaust gases to mix with rich mixture in the intake passage to the auxiliary combustion chamber with a valve controlling the flow.
