Void growth rates in irradiated materials at the peak swelling temperature

The extent to which interface control of vacancy and interstitial flow into voids inhibits void growth in irradiated metallic materials is discussed along with the dose dependence of swelling contrasted with diffusion-controlled growth. It is suggested that the observed linear variation of swelling with dose may be partially accounted for by the insensitivity of the swelling to the void growth controlling mechanism. (JRD)
