The residue from the burning of coal, collected from the stack effluent and the bottom of the boiler unit, is another solid waste disposal product that the community must be concerned with. In this study the nature of coal ash has been defined, the quantities produced have been determined and locations of the major utilities generating the coal ash changes and quantities to be generated in the future resulting from expanded energy requirements, advancements in technology and pollution controls have been evaluated. This study also included a review of current disposal and utilization practices. (GRA)
