An investigation was made of natural fluctuations of the difference frequency emitted from a ring laser at lambda=1.15 ..mu... The measurements were carried out in the one-mode (when the threshold was exceeded by a factor up to 2.5) and two-mode regimes. The results obtained were compared with theoretical predictions. (AIP)
